There are many, many good points on this topic! Just thought I would add my .02 cents.
Firstly I get the impression the P&Y are like school yard bullies, I put up with that mentallity enough when I was a kid. I learned to do what I thought was the right thing and if the other guy didn't like it, too damn bad!
I thought the whole idea of sportsmanship was the acceptance of other folks, who shared a common interest, despite the method!
There was a post on another topic which I thought was very well stated.
The post was related to ethics and what you would do when you are alone in the bush hunting. Whatever choice you made would indicate your personnality and convictions. If you are happy with your ethics and choices, it doesn't matter what anyone else might think!
On that note I strongly agree with R.J, in that, personnally I don't need to let the whole world know what I have done. I'm happy with the comraderie and pride I feel I have developed from being a Sportsman, not a show off. Happy to accept all others who appreciate the true meanings associated with hunting!
If folks want to be school yard bullies, and hollier than thou, they have my sympathy!!! Perhaps one day they will see the light!
Happy Hunting Sportsmen!

For what it's worth, I sent my comments to the buggers as well :D

"the Pope and Young Club considers the use of the crossbow during bowhunting seasons to be a serious threat to the future of bowhunting."

Gentlemen:
It is very stupid to alienate a large portion of the hunting public. Many of us archery hunters are handicapped and must use a crossbow. Others simply prefer to use them. Either way, polls show a significant percentage of bowhunters support crossbows (during archery season). Long term studies also show no advantage of them over vertical bows. You could easily have accomplshed your goal by simply stating that animals harvested with crossbows are inelligible for P&Y. Most archery hunters really don't give a hoot about P&Y anyway. You represent a miniscule portion of the sport. The arrogance of your published position will cost you all the way around. As an industry pro-staffer, I conduct hunting seminars each year, and will definitely give your organization its due at every opportunity.

Greg Sefton
