newbie from Tennessee
Just wanted to say hello and let everbody know I'm reading all the post about first time buying of crossbows. I'm happy that TN passed the new crossbow regs. and hope that other states will join soon.
I have been an archery hunter for six years now and have always wanted to try a crossbow. I'm trying to decide which brand and model to buy. It seems as if Excalibur is at the top of the game but there is just not much infomation here in TN to do with crossbows. Some friends are telling me to look at a Horton but being new I don't have anything to go on. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome hoop235, I did alot of looking around and deciced on a excalibur.
I bought the exocet200 and I really enjoy it, I think I made the right decision.

Welcome to the forum hoop235.
i have owned or shot every type of crossbow since 1983 and nothing comes close to an excalibur for price, durability, dependability and accuracy. There is just really little or no maintenance to these bows. Don't have to wory about cable jobs, wheels or axles. Just a little wd-40 on the trigger housing once in a while and your set. And best of all you don't have to go to a bow shop just to put a new string on, you can do it your self. Also, excalibur has the best trigger out there, smooth, crisp and reliable. But the bottom line is pick a bow that best suits you and your needs whether it is an excalibur, ten point, horton or parker just to name a few. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I agree with you Buckeye that less mechanical things is less chance of problems. Does a person need to "unstring" a crossbow between weekend hunts? I'm reading alot about "unstringing" during off season but what about during hunting season? Is it ok to leave it strung for a month or two???
