I just joined this forum this week.I spent all of yesterday visiting different dealers to decide which xbow to buy .I was armed with all the opinions I gleaned from this and other sites.
Here's my problem.I really liked the Excalibur Exocet and the Horton SuperMax 175,BUT I couldn't cock them with any of their cocking devices. It just killed my shoulder.
The only xbow I could cock was VERY EXPENSIVE-- a TenPoint--it had a cocking mechanism called ACUdraw which was as easy as reeling in a spinning reel.So unless I am missing something,my choice has been made for me,I have to buy a Tenpoint with an Acudraw system.
Q:Are their any Excalibur or Horton models that I could add the Acudraw system to?
Q:Even though I am 6'1",I am getting on in years(64),should I think of buying one of the less heavier(weight wise) models like Elite Lite(287fps) or Hybrid lite(292FPS )?Or are there other disadvantages to these lighter models aside from having FPS below 300
Q Any suggestions on places or dealers where I can get a good deal on the TenPoints
Thanks
Tom

Hey AFISHIN,
I now you said that you couldn't cock the ExoCet 200 with the cranking device. Did they only let you try the cocking device with the "T" Handles or did they also let you try Excalibur's other cocking aid device. Excalibur has a cocking aid device called the Crankaroo, it should be like Ten Points's ACUdraw. Sorry to ya if you already tried it and for the waste of a post but might as well ask...
good luck

Spank. You make a great point .At the Excalibur dealer they had me use a "T" to cock it.The dealer saw me struggle with the cocking process.
Suprisingly he nevr offered to show me the Crankaroo device.
If it works like Tenpoints Acudraw,I probably would have bought the xbow on the spot, becasue the price tag on the TenPoint package ($1,600) I saw earlier in the day was giving me lingering heartburn.

AFISHN the crankaroo slips on the back of your stock, then you pull the hooks down on each side and hook on your string, set the safty on the crankaroo and crank your string back to cock. Similar as the accudraw but not a permanent fixture as the accudraw is and is faster.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i've heard you can also attach tenpionts accudraw to the excalibur stocks... just takes putting in a hole in the stock. Oh, and the $200+ for the accudraw itself...
I personally bought a crankeroo for my max, so my dad can use it.

The accudraw will fit excaliburs and the Horton Hunter series crossbows. As for a suggestion for a Tenpoint dealer,I would suggest trying The Archers Nook. http://archersnook.com/index.html

Not to say archers nook can't do you well, but one of the best on selling and fitting a accura draw to you xbow is Dan Miller in Ohio....ALINALBERTA wrote:The accudraw will fit excaliburs and the Horton Hunter series crossbows. newbie needs help
Hi Digger.I started this post aa few days
I have been reading all the posts on this forum for a few days. And I consider you one of the most knowledgable and helpful posters on this forum.(No,I'm not blowing smoke......)
You obviously went to the trouble and cost of having an ACUdraw from TenPoint installed on an Excalibur. Why did you do that vs the Excalibur's Crankaroo?
I am visiting Cabelas later today to loook at the Excaliburs and will probably order one this weekend(or a TenPoint).Because of my bum shoulder,I really need a cockling device.
Would you please go into some detail as to why you went the way you did.
Thanks
