CX Crossbolt Weight

Post by Boltshooter »

I plan to shoot the 20" Carbon Express crossbolts from my Emax. . . .5" vanes, flat nocks, 100 grain points. Does anyone know how much these will weigh, and what velocity they will get with the exomax? Should I maybe go with the 22" Carbon Express bolts for hunting?

It depends on the shaft size you want to shoot. You should try to stay with 10 grains per inch (bare shaft weight) and this should give you between 380 and 390 grains if you use aluminum inserts. I personally do not like shooting the minimum bolt weight of 350 grains as I believe it makes the bow louder and causes to much stress on the limbs. Here is CX link and you can browse through their web site to see what type shaft you would like to shoot.

cx weigh

Post by buck slayer »

I just got a exomax and I am shooting cx bolts. I weigh three bolts with a 100 gr muzzy and they weighed between 449 and 450 gr. Have not checked the speed, but I will be doing that within next two weeks.

:D Thanks Buckslayer.

Buckeye----I already knew that the CX bolts weigh 13.1 grains per inch, I was basically asking how much weight the inserts and vanes add.
