moose set up question

Post by BALLZ »

sept 28 i leave for 21b to go moose hunting with my excocet 175, out of five of us there are only two using excaliburs and both of us are fairly new to crossbow. i,ve been shooting the gold tips that came with my scoop accesery pack with the wasp boss 100g. The other three are all shooting diffrent types of crossbow. when i seen one of the other guys CB i thought it was a toy cause of how small it was, our bows are monsters compared to other brands. we all target shot together the other day and my practice payed off because i didn't miss the vitals of a 3d deer all the way out to 50 yards the guys couldn't believe how deadly it was.

I am a little worried about my goldtips and 100g wasp do u guys think these are heavy enough, if not could anyone suggest another setup for moose.
thanks for any help guys
Dave.

BALLZ..........they'll probably do the trick! I'm using a GT L2 with 125 gr broadheads, a grand total of 448 grains for moose hunting this year. These are the same bolts I'm using with the paradox(s).................Good Luck with the Harvest. I'm heading out on the 27th of sept for a week, can't wait.

We might be a little behind times, but we use 2117s with 125 Thunder heads with our exocet 175s and they work fine. Have not lost a moose yet, in fact none have gone more than 100 yds.Three bulls in 5 years. Leaveing Sept. 22, hope it starts to cool down soon, Good Luck

Your set up should be fine. The moose I took last year was with gold tip carbons but i used a 145 grn montec broadhead. Took him straight in the chest and he only went 6 yrds. The arrow went all the way to his stomach.
