If you want to shoot carbon bolts you can either go with the Beman Thunderbolts or the CX Crossbolts. These are heavier than the Gold Tip Laser 2's. I found that the max performs much better with the heavier bolts.

If you want to shoot aluminums go with either the 2216's or the 2219's.

I think the Laser 2's are too light of a bolt to be shot from the Exomax.

Go with a heavier bolt set-up!...

just my opinion
I was just wondering whether that could be the cause of the problems some people are having with their bows.

Or do what bj has suggested and replace the front aluminum insert with a brass insert...

What would you do LoneWolf? Change to brass insert or go for a heavier carbon bolt?

If it were me, I would try to trade in the Gold Tips Laser 2's for a heavier carbon bolt if possible. But by changing the inserts might be easier and less expensive for you.

That said, I'm not saying that Gold Tip do not make a good arrow/bolt cause they make a great bolt/arrow. I'm just saying I find they are on the light side for the Exomax, that's all...

Question? I am new to xbows and have decided on buying a exomax in about 2 week.

1. What size bolts comes with the max package from Basspro I think they are Series 22 (22") but not sure.
2. I want to buy extra bolts of the same so I'm not wasting them, but it seems that everyone is having issues.
3. Does anyone know of a better bolt that basspro sells (carbon) that will work well with the max.

Thanks Allen

Beman Thunderbolts, same as TenPoint shoots, and I would sure stay at 424gr or better with the Max.... :D

i just got a reply from bill and he said to shoot the bow and after the season they will replace them....

not really the answer i was looking for because im not comfortable shooting a bow with a damaged limb. over 200lbs of pressure on the limbs (correct?) and if one goes i dont think id be a happy camper.

replied to him stating that id like it replaced asap. i live like 30 minutes from the plant in kitchener so shipping should only take 3-4- days regular post.

Man.... oh.... man ch312, your one lucky dude to live 30 minutes away from the Excalibur plant. I'd find every excuse to drive down there, just to see the going's on, in how xbows are made.

That's like being an alcoholic and living next to a brewery !!
