Don't bother with string silencers they dont silence anything they maked you lose 4-12 fps and they either look like hell after 20 or 30 shots or they come flying apart, a wooden stock cuts 40 to 50 % of the noise or disapator bars about 20% noise.

besides the silencing thing, wouldnt they also help reduce string vibrations, therefore reducing wear and tear on your bow?

They don't really reduce anything, but velocity! Basic archery 101 is the best way to reduce sound/vibration which is heavier bolts, something that never needs maintaining.

Furor they just do not last, they blow apart so the only thing you would be helping is the store/dealer that make's them....for a xbow forget them.... :D

Thank you for all your replies. I will take your advice. This will be my first season with a crosbow. I am really looking forward to getting out there.
