CAN ANYONE DIRECT ME TO A LINK,OR DEMO ON HOW CLIMBING TREE STANDS ARE ACTUALLY USED TO GET YOU UP INTO THE TREE!
IT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED TO ME,BRIEFLY,BUT SOME OF US NEED TO SEE THESE THINGS TO FULLY UNDERSTAND,IF YOU GET MY MEANING!!!!!
"CLIMBING STANDS"
C.J. : I'm not sure if this helps you to understand but here are 4 pictures that the late Mikey V. ( aka Red Label ) took of me climbing down from a tree stand in a funnel transition area that we hunted together last season .
1st picture shows the bow being lowered down .... then next picture shows the standard sitting position , ( next picture ) you move the bottom section of the climber stand from the tree by wedging your feet into the quick step brackets and moving it away from the tree , then you lower your legs , then engage the lower section to the tree . ( next picture ) disengage the upper section of the climber stand with your hands and lower into the sitting position for the next iteration ....
Obviously you keep doing this until you are at the botom of the tree . To climb up again you reapeat the procedure in reverse .....
I use a very basic Warren / Sweat Master climber ..... it is a blade type climber .... meaning it has a blade at the back that grips the tree instead of a chain or cable like some other types ...
Mine is a very basic model type climber , it was cheap approx $100. CND but it works real good ..... 6 guys in our group use the same climber ....
A couple of the older gents in our group have recently purchased more expensive beauty climbers that are much more comfortable .... one that is real popular is the Summit Viper .... many guys use it .
Here are the pictures .

I carved this tree in a funnel transition area approx 3 years ago when Red Label had invited me out for a hunt ..... this is a lucky tree .... I took a 10 point from this location the 1st time out in it ....

The next season Red Label took a doe and a nice buck from that tree location ....
And Sandman took a beauty big doe from that tree location ....
I will be hunting that spot with Red Label's son Chris this season . If Mikey V. is watching .... I'm sure we will connect again !
I hope the pictures help you visualize the climbing procedure ...
