I am hunting in Lanark next week. This is the 3rd year for me down there. Definately deer rich environment.

Alaspan,

This real estate agent told me hunting property that is zoned for recreation use only goes for about $500/acre. (You can't get a building permit for this property)

BRIAN ARBUCKLE
613-838-4858

Here is one of his MLS listings...
MLS® Listing # 611399 $12,000

Goulbourn 8208
K-Goulbourn
Ottawa-Carleton
Eastern 8
Ontario
20 acre bush lot on unopened Garvin Rd.. Zoned General Rural with some wetlands. Ideal recreational property for Hunters.

He had another property 2 minutes outside of Richmond that was bigger (I think 30 Acres) for about $17k. Not bad if you split the payments 4 ways.

I spoke with Brian Arbuckle...it's a no go, can get onto the land unless you've got a hovercraft by the sounds of it. It's landlocked on all sides and flooded. "you'll have to wait to the winter until the water freezes to check it out."... I don't think so.

There's another 33 acres for sale on Franktown road, which could be good, but I have to see if there's any sign. It's a little close to the town of Richmond, which may or may not be good for the deer population.

The Lanark Landowners Association seems to be a dead end - nil replies.

Thankfully, in the meantime, I've been offered a reprive from Tigerpaw.
We'll keep looking for something permanent near Ottawa.....

Dave.
