Excalibur Wolverine bow
Excalibur Wolverine bow
I have a used Excalibur Wolverine X bow. Does anyone know how to cock it besides by hand? This bow has no groove for a string cocking devise. I was thinking of cutting a groove in it with a disc cut off saw. Thanks for the input. Ray.
I carved a groove in mine with a rat tailed file, worked great, just keep gong till the cocking aid doesn't slip out of the groove

Great question. I picked up one at a garage sale earlier in the year. It goes well with my Exocet. I've been cocking it by hand for target practice, but I guess i should carve me out a groove as well. If I cock it for a number of shots by hand, I can feel it in my shoulders the next day.
Thanks digger.
Hey Digger, what's the poundage/fps on these bows, any idea?

My first Excalibur was a Wolverine.I think that I used the cocking aid over the butt plate and as I recall had no problems at all. I'd like to find one of them at a garage sale.Good Find!!

I have the Relayer which is the first style bow produced by Excal, the woverine was the second. They basicly had the same stock with only the limb asmbly being different. The trigger is great and if I remember correctly the earlier rope cockers for these bows went over the BUT PLATES and not behind the receiver like they do now.
Todays rope cockers are too short for this, but if you lengthen the rope with a new piece to the length needed it will work as well.
Hope this helps.

Excalibur has a longer Rope for the older wolverines. Bill used a round file to put a groove in the butt for me (thats where it has to be cut to get by the safety). I cut a groove but i went straight across but he curved it down a little on both sides so that the string would move smoothly and not catch on the edges of the butt. Once it was rounded out the accuracy improved considerably.
