Ive had a Jaguar cb for 4 years now and have taken 17 deer with it and so many hogs with it to matter. Here in SC we dont have a limit on hogs or deer and we can hunt hogs all year.I saw everyones input on the Jaguar cb and all i saw was yall never seen it or shot it but said it was crap well i maybe a redneck but i dont put anything down till ive tryed it first all i can say it gets the job done for about $160.But i have a excalibur now and its lightspeed faster than the Jaguar so my son has my old cb and he took 2 hogs last week with it but thank the lord i have this new cb its a big step up.

I was given a jag crossbow for xmas..its not a toy, plenty powerful to do significant damage to whatever you can hit. Also, what good is all this speed some of you brag about? You have to hit what youre aiming at..right? I want an excal..they are the best but this little jag is fun to shoot, and supplies ample energy ke to put food on the table. Im happy to say I split a bolt with it..check the video.

So what is the best Xcal to start with?

thanks in advance.

I just stumbled on this forum, and came across this post.....this is my first post on this forum....after reading it, I find a lot of "Argumentum ad Hominem"...anyone who attempts to undermine a commentator's argument by attacking "the commentator" instead of addressing the "argument/debate" with facts.
One indication that a person's belief system (cognition) is unsound and unstable (and manipulated) is their use of ad hominem attacks (name calling) in a desperate attempt to repress an impinged perspective. If thier belief system was secure they wouldn't be provoked into calling someone "idiot, dumbass, jackass, stupid," and so forth.
That being said, I own the jag 175, and the Xcal Matrix 330. I bought the jag, then sold my AR-15 and bought the Excal. Let me just say this....if you have the means, buy an Xcal, they are the best, but if funds are tight, and you do enough research online about the jag as I did, and properly set it up, (brace height, limb asymmetry, good string, polish the string catch etc.) The jag is a great bow!!!! I haven't killed a deer, but I think 40 yards would be MAX I'd try for one. I did kill a nice peacock at 20 yards with my jag and 288 (i only shoot 151/2"-16" in the jag) grain arrows pushing around 275fps. Its accurate, the triggers acceptable, the safety is quiet when you slip it off slowly, and my personal one will be a backup, friends borrower on hunts, and will be gifted to my son, as soon as he can draw it and shoot it compitently. Its compact, and parts are readily available online, and my local Big5. The tilt mechanism for elevation compensation is solid and dependable. And is a great choice for women, kids, smaller shooters. But anything past 30-35 yards in my opinion would be unethical with a jag in my experience. Great turkey blind bow. But by no means is it ANYWHERE IN THE SAME BALLPARK as my Excalibur......my hunting partner has the Xcal Micro335 and is very satisfied with his. He got his first gobbler at 18 yards this year, we both LOVE our Xcals.....but if you don't have the funds, I would buy a Jag over many of the compounds out there just because of the fact its a RECURVE!.....and I'm somewhat biased to recurve over compound, for practicality reasons. Just my two cents, just in case anyone cares.

Matrix330 w/ 3-9XAO "Bugbuster" scope
(Poe Lang) Jaguar175 with "Tactedge" red/green dot.
Air force "TalonSS-Dor" (Highly Powerful (110FPE @ 3000# fill) modified, tuned, hotrodded.....and outright badass custom "condorized" .25cal TalonSS air rifle)
Ruger 71/2" .45 colt new model black hawk (I hand load for)
NAA "companion" .22 mini cap and ball
Highly modded and customized Crosman2240 with "Powermax" High Pressure Air Conversion, Powervalve, 10" barrel, Stainless everything, Powerprobe, etc. 635fps @ 1800# fill.

And anyone else who want s to say something on this thread. Let it go!
Remember there are people who have been banned, chased off, left of embarrassment,
