I'm so sorry Tar Heel, almost a year ago to the date, we lost a good friend to a tree stand accident. This is the post from a year ago.

[quote="raydaughety"]I'm sitting in my office trying to get some work done, but I just can't. You see, We had the horrific task of attending the funeral of one of our members yesterday afternoon. He was only 16 yrs old. and His death was totally uncalled for. He went for a quick afternoon hunt with His father on tuesday. When He didn't show up at the truck shortly after dark, his dad went to his stand and found him hanging from his chest strap style safety harness. He was dead. :( . The emergency room Doctor said that he probably died from asficiation because of the marks from the strap under his diaphram. His rubber boots lay under the stand as a sign of his struggle. Guys, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use a full body safety harness. It's not worth it. I think I'll go pick my son up from school and go sit in our blind this afternoon.

I just can't say enough about the use of full body safety harnesses.

My family and I will be praying for you and the family. I was going to post this story again this week as a safety reminder. I hope that this hasn't made things worse for you.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Just know that your friends here are thinking of you and if there is anything we can do just ask. He was lucky to have you for a friend and I'm glad for him that you went to check on him and found him. I hope he didn't suffer.

If I could choose the time & place for my demise it would be in the woods hunting. Thats as close to heaven as I can get while on this world.
