i have the same tube but i use SLICK 50. i dip each arrow before the shooting session and im good to go.Farmer wrote:I have a pvc tube made up with 2 caps ( 1 cap has hole drilled thru it ) and piece of foam inside. I load the the foam up with silicone lube . Dip the arrow in and shoot. Silicone will not harm your arrows .
I have seen others use a bar of ivory soap .
I have a block foam target that I have shot field points into with my carbon bolts. No problem with the T handled bolt puller. I ran into trouble when I started using those Montec G5 practice broadhead. My first two shots resulted in a nice group but when I went to pull the bolts out, the practice broadheads stayed in the center of the block along with the inserts. I was a little mad. I havet really figured out what to do. either way Im out to arrows and to retrieve my practice heads I will have to destroy my block. The Block company says its the bolts faulty construction and montec says the same thing. Excalibur hasn't got back to me. Its been almost 10 months.

Butch, Have you tried inserting the arrows back into the holes they came out of untill they meet with the tips and then pushing or hammering them straight through the other side? It would be difficult but it's worth a try if you are going to lose the target anyway.
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day anywhere else.
Good evening. I really never thought about trying to push them through. Its going to be a little tricky finding them inside there again. A buddy of mine suggested using a ratchet strap to hold the block together while I try to hunt for theses practice heads. Either way Im out. Im thinking about redoing all my arrows and second guessing my block for anything other then field points.

Thanks every one for your input. I have tried some of the ideas and this is the results. A friend invited me over to explain to me what I was doing wrong. At 20 yards he could pull his arrows out of his older foam target quite easily. I tried the crossbow, and yes it was easy to get from the target because it had gone completly through and lodged itself in his padded back stop.So much for his setup.I tried what was left of the Pam on my original target at 30 yards. It went through to only half of the fletching showing out of the target. It wasn't too hard to pull out. I tried a spray with a large silicone content [put on cloth and wipe arrows] It stuck so tight into the new Morrells Yellow Jacket crossbow broad field point target that I had to get a drill chuck clamped on the arrow, turn the target over and kneel on it and pull with both hands. I moved the target out to 40 yards and tried again with the Pam. This time I could pull it out more easily with both hands.I plan on getting a pure silicone lube and some of the grease lubes, and retry it. The comment from my dear wife was that "if the other guys can pull their arrows out with two fingers what are you doing wrong"?Good question.
Excalibur Exomax and Arctic Cat 400 auto. Life don't get much better than that.
