I'd hate to admit the number of times I've opened my eyes to find turkey or deer right in front of the blind.
Right now I have a chair similar to this one

but it makes noise when you lean back, and mice ate a hole in the seat and built a nest in the storage pouch last summer when I left it in the blind. I'll probably leave it and an old 3-legged one in the blind and not leave a new one there. I moved my old blind to the new feeder area and will leave the old seats in it. I bought a new blind, and will keep it and the new seat (if I ever decide what to buy) for when I want to check out new locations.
Went in and filled the feeder today and set in the blind for about an hour. 6 turkeys walked by, but no deer today. The critters have consumed about 25# of corn since Tuesday. I checked local prices Tuesday and corn was $7.99 & $6.99 (per 50# bag) at the 2 places here in town. I came home and called the mill about 10 miles away - $5.50. I then called the one 16 miles away - $4.00. I drove the extra miles, but picked up 500# to make it worth the drive. Hope that will last until season opens.

I've never used one for hunting but have for camping, these chairs are really quite comfortable. You would be right on the ground.

Hey, Wabi ...

I know well the quest for comfortable, efficient hunting seating. I'm a grizzly-sized guy, and cannot tolerate the ridiculous little butt-torturing devices marketed as hunting seats.

We all know the comfortable hunter is the successful hunter.

My solution was to get one of the deluxe hunter's stools (like dove hunters use) ... the heavy-duty square type with the plastic folding swivel seat. I removed the tiny seat that came with it and mounted a standard padded boat seat (as seen on pedestals in bass boats) in it's place. The swivel mount is standard, and the replacement is a breeze. I then fashioned a set of backpack straps out of two inch webbing and affixed them to the squared stool. A Krylon camo job completed the project.

I call it the "Sportsman's BarcaLounger." It is far more comfortable than what many use, is back-packable, will not sink into the ground at all, swivels quietly 360 degrees, floats, doesn't squeak in transit or when sitting on it, and you can carry all your stuff quietly inside it. If you remove the styrofoam cooler from the inside, capacity is greatly enlarged, at the expense of some noiseiness.

Just put your stuff in the box, fold the seat and secure it with it's snap-strap, swing it to your back like a pack, and off you go. You can park where you please, when you please!

This rig is such a success that I no longer mount seats in box or platform stands. I just pack the SP to whichever stand I'm using.

I have killed dozens of deer sitting on the Sportsman's BarcaLounger, in enjoyable comfort. When paired with a shooting stick, it's an unbeatable combination for the ground-hunter.

MIght be worth your consideration. :D

You may have given me the answer!!!!!
I found this one on BassPro's online catalog and will check for them in the store next time I'm in the city.

Wabi, while your there, see it they have one with the heat/message option.  . That's a nice chair. I bought one like the dove stool that you posted earlier from wal-mart for $15.00 this weekend. It seemed comfy but only time will tell.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

It's the aftermarket boat seat installation that makes all the difference! :D

Grizz, do you have a pic of this custom setup? Is the base what wabi shows as a pic? I have been looking for the blind seat answer for some time. One of my distributors is a marine parts supplier, so getting a boat seat is not a problem. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, the base of the Sportsman's BarcaLounger is exactly what Wabi showed in his pic. Simply take the flimsy small stock seat off and install the boat seat that fits your butt and back on the swivel plate. Works like a dream, with all the advantages I cited. I've never found anything to beat it, unless you're worried about weight ... but on your back it's nothing. Use it like a pack, too.

This is the first time I've posted pics, so I hope this work!

I purchased a "Director's Chair" a couple of years ago which I do not recommend. Everytime you shift in your seat the rivets make a clicking sound. Comfortable chair, but noisy.

This year I will be hunting from the smaller windows in my Doghouse blind. Since the windows are lower to the ground, I picked up the following chair. The seat is only about 8 inches off the ground.

Actually, Bob, those folding metal "community hall" chairs aren't bad to hunt from, either. They're cheap (around $9) and lightweight ... easy to carry in, and durable. I have a number of them sitting around in the woods. I find them more comfortable than camp chairs and many "outside" chairs.

The old Krylon camo job works well on them too.

The chair is very comfy - I'll have to try not to fall asleep!

The chair is adjustable and can be set a little more upright than in the picture.
It adjusts like a lawn chair. I picked it up at Lebarons for $30.
