Anyone try shimming up rizor on excal??

Bob . . .if the string pressure against the rail is all that you wanted to correct . . .using a slightly thinner string and/or a thinner serving material would be the easy way to fix. That would definitely give you more speed. However, you might want to consult Boo on how thin is too thin. I'd go with some thin serving material first, Halo comes thin.

:) I believe I'll take Bill T's advice on both of my Excalibur crossbows and leave that part alone. What more will it do than leave more wax on the rail and I don't think that will hurt a bit. I do believe it would set up the bow for more vibration without a easy way to dampen it.

I think one of the reasons I originally looked at doing the shim thing is the hopefully reduced wear to the serving with less pressure on the rail. And the STS type of dampening system seems to easily take care of any new possible vibration from less rail pressure. Maybe I don't get a lot of extra speed from the mod., but if anything a little plus is in the right direction.

Thanks again everyone for input. After the hunting season look forward to trying Boo's famous strings.
