Ask Ray to go back and see if there are any crows around. Usually when a hunter is positive he had a good shot, he did. But like Grizz said, blood does not always come spurting out at the kill site.

I'm with these guys, 1- a bear that close can rattle ANYONE, so it was a clen miss. or 2 - they didn't track it far enough to find blood. Esp. at night it's almost impossible to get on a marginal blood trail when the bush is still so thick and dark green. Hopefully they went back and gave it a good try in the daylight? Can't say i blame anyone for not spending all night, in the DARK, looking for a pissed off bruin. Seen them do a small circle after a short while and die laying down beside their trail, wouldn't want to find that one still alive in the dark.
