I just cant put into words how pretty the whole scene was. Both bucks were on a hill that crested and their outline was against the tree's 200 yards behind them. I wish i had it on video.
btw, thats the exit hole on the deer. The other side was perfectly in the heart. He was quartering slightly towards but enough angle I felt very good with the ML'er at 75 yards. I was in a mad panic after the shot wondering where he had gone though
again, stay tuned for the whole complete story and thanks again. I need a mega millions ticket tonight. Im just so glad the work I started right after season ended last year is paying off. I put 9months of hard planning and work into some mature bucks. Invested in 10 trail cameras and countless other odds and ends. I was beating myself up pretty hard when Oct ended and no mature buck in my hands. It just shows you that you NEVER know whats coming over the hill. Literally! Im glad I didnt shoot the first buck that walked over the hill.

Way to go CF. That buck is a beauty....your story goes to show that those opportune moments can arise from a spur of the moment change in plans...that was a good day NOT to stay in the field working.
Everything is paying off here in Virginia this year!
Tell me about it. You never know what's roaming when you aren't hunting. I would be sick knowing he walked by and I didn't hunt that spot. Guys I tried to get up and go this morning but I was to sore and worn down. The past 3 days have been hatdcore so its breaktime for today. I've got 2 others still on my hitlist. One more tag. Hopefuly I get a chance at one of them. Then like Mike P I can sit back and hunt doe then
Thanks for the kind comments. Sometimes everything comes together perfectly. Sometimes it doesn't though
