CB brackets for an ATV?!?!
Re: CB brackets for an ATV?!?!
I used to have my old CB strapped down with bungee cords to the rack of my old Kawasaki 4 wheeler and never had any issues. This 4 wheeler rides a whole lot smoother than my old one did, so I can't believe its going to cause anymore issues than that. The thought of trying to keep my CB slung over my shoulder while riding back to my stands would be a good clip to send into America's Funniest Home Videos show.
I think its a safer choice to tie it down in a rubber mounted bracket than it is to try and keep it slung over my shoulder. Besides....I just got the 4 wheeler and want to keep it in one piece!!!

if you have a scope that loses zero on a normal ride to your stand then its a cheapo and you shouldnt be using it anyways. the recoil and vibration from shooting a crossbow or gun are much harder on your scope than a normal atv ride.
i keep saying normal because i drive my grizzly 700 like its stolen
having a gun or bow slung over your shoulder while driving an atv is a disaster waiting to happen. if a barrel or limb gets hung up on a beefy tree branch there isnt much stretch in a sling to cushion the impact. for a crossbow i would use 4 (they come in 2 packs?) of those kolpin gun gripper things with one under each limb and the other 2 under the stock on each end.

Bring your quad 10 minutes west and follow me for a few minutes, you will wish your 700 was stolen.ch312 wrote:if you have a scope that loses zero on a normal ride to your stand then its a cheapo and you shouldnt be using it anyways. the recoil and vibration from shooting a crossbow or gun are much harder on your scope than a normal atv ride.

As far as the scope, they are made for front to rear impact, not up and down.

I don't even know is it it legal here to carry a CB on an ATV. I know I cannot carry a rifle, shotgun. This from what I understands changes as you get way north of were I am.
But the neighbor kid smoked the engine on my Big bear so I will have time to fiqure it out.

Well...with the amount of arthritis and stenosis that I have in my back and neck...speeding to and from my hunting stands on a 4 wheeler isn't even a concern!
For my area it is legal to carry your CB on your 4 wheeler. They've changed the laws here recently and you don't have to have your CB or bow cased when going out to hunt as long as it doesn't have an arrow loaded in it. I'm going to risk the possibilty of damaging my scope versus the possibility of damaging my whole CB! If the CB slid or was ripped off my shoulder by a branch...well...it wouldn't be pretty, cuz I'm guessing that the rocks and such would do a pretty good job on it.
