bob1961 that sounds very efficient indeed.
I think I may give that a try next time. :)
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

This is the way I was taught. Fast, efficient and you get very little hair on the meat.

How to skin a deer
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

I built a skinning rack and pull the hides off from the rear legs, before that I hung the head and did it that way.

Head up was real easy and fast as you just make a cut and the guts fall out. Its clean and you don't need to fish out the guts or heart from inside the ribs. It all just falls out and easy clean up.

i don't worry bout hair on the meat as i go....when i cut the meat for wraping and freezing i clean it off then....only time hair makes venison taste bad is when it gets cooked with the meat, pull it off when you clean and wrap it and there is no problems  ....i even seen guys hose the deer carcass off after skinning using a scrub brush to remove debris and blood clots also along with hair, to each there own as some say not to wash venison off with water as it breeds bacteria....but i have done it and not done it and seen no difference either way........bob
