The exomax is one power house of a crossbow and it was my first Excalibur choice ...then i bought a 175 exocet and i think i enjoy it more because its easy to cock and its lighter weight and the reason for that was i pimped out the exomax with any and all accessories that i could find .Dont get me wrong i love them both but if i was going to africa or moose hunting i would take the exomax but for deer and other smaller animals the exocet is all i need.
We all have more than one gun for hunting different animals with right? same with a crossbow to me ...like these guys said watch the video and read and come to this forum for advice and take your time be safe and enjoy.

How do you spin check the broad heads?
Spin checking is usually a FIELD DONE TEST. The table model arrow spinners are great for home use but not really good for in the field.

To spin check .........
open up your hand to the flat position,
place the tip of the hunting head onto the flat palm of your hand,
then quickly spin the shaft on the point, on your palm.
............

This is mostly a quick check to see if the arrow is bent (for alumn arrows) and is the head/arrow are on the same axis and no wobble. This test is also a learned feel. After a while you will be able to feel the wobble if there is any, even if you can't see any wobble.

Hope this helps.

I suggest spin testing your arrows before you take them into the field. There is seldom a need to check/re-check your arrow in the field, well, unless you forgot to do it at home. I've never done it.

You can also spin it on a rock or other smooth surface. However, the table spinners give you a better check for balance. Stop each vane on the top or side and see if it stops or if it rotates. If it keeps rotating, then the arrow is off balance due to excess glue somewhere or just a bad shaft. Anyway, I perfer the table spinners.

Yes.

However, don't worry. Using the cocking rope makes it pretty easy. Plus, you will want to use the cocking rope anyway because it gives you more consistancy.

Sounds like you did what I did. I decided I wanted the Exomax and bought it. Never shot it. Never cocked it. Never held it in my hands until I owned it. :)

Worked out just fine.

a couple things on spinning arrows..
I have always been able to place tip in my palm and hold my other hand lighty around the shaft close to the fletching..and blow till it spins ..
i tried it with the boltscutters and about drilled a hole in my palm.. then i tried the home made spinner with the nails...it worked great !!
with the boltcutters it showed no wobble at all..so just for fun i screwwed on my thunderheads witch i thought spinned up pretty good with the palm method..NOT SO..
they were teribble.. not even close..no wonder they dont shoot well for me..so as i inspected them i could tell that trash had got in the grooves that the blades go in ..and a little cleaning and adjusting i got em a lot better ..not as good as needed though..im sure if i tinkered with them some more i could get them tuned but..that was just a test and my thoughts is a good spinner is a needed tool..period
