Congratulations on the doe!
Our season started this past Saturday and I didn't see a thing. Still waiting on my first Excalibur kill.

Nice.theoldarcher wrote:Second day of deer season here in NW Georgia and success. Had a doe come in around 8:30 this morning followed by a yearling. I took her at 24 yards, slightly quartering to me and it her in the back part of the right shoulder, arrow didn’t pass through, but she hit the ground like she had been hit by a sledge hammer. The two blade meat seeker did a number on her. The only bad part is she trashed my arrow, now I have to get another one.
We had a bumber crop of acorns down here in NW Florida last year. Unfortunately, that never helps me out a lot due to my property's location and deer competing with bear for acorns, but it should mean some decent racks this winter.
We open 10/22. I can't hunt opening day, but you can bet your arse that I'll be out on Sunday 10/23!

I am shooting the Phoenix again. It's more suited to where I hunt. I hit the shoulder on entry but didn't get a pass through. She broke the arrow off when she was wallering around on the ground. Here is a picture of what the meet seeker done after skinning.gerald strine wrote:congratulations on the harvest that is a nice deer what bow are you shooting ? did you hit the shoulder blade on the entry or exit?
Forgive the quality of the photo, I took it with my cell phone as we were getting ready to discard the carcus. I ended up having to let that shoulder go because I didn't want to take a chance of contamination from the carbon fibers after the arrow snaped in half.

We know that we have at least one bear in the area. I have seen him twice in the last month. I keep hoping that he wanders back around sometime between now and November and can get a shot at him. I have never taken a Black Bear, but would like to. Good luck on the 23rd.
