Yep!! Neat looking critter but apparently not too friendly. Even likes to eat it's own kind!
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

Yeah they are Canibals...
All native reptiles are protected here. So you wouldn't hunt one, plus they aren't scared of you so it wouldn't be "much a "Hunt. Years ag, Black fellas used to throw them on a fire whole, then when cooked in its skin, peel the burned skin back to get to the flesh. They can get up to 2.5 yards long but this one was only a yard and a bit.
Although they're not agressive to humans, you don't corner them ! They have a habit of running up a tree when attacked by a Dingo or something. When I was younger I saw one run up a guys body and onto his head before he could blink. The huge claws cut to the bone just hanging on to his head tightly while looking around for the get away.   My workmate was a bit of an idiot and knew better than to try and dig him out of his hole!
They walk slow like a croc, but can bolt quickly before you even get a chance to move.
Monitors are cool. But my favorite is the Thorny Dragon.

(Not my photo) Its only small but beautifull to look at. Like a miniture dinosaur ! they're very dosile and just eat ants. I don't see them as much in the bush anymore. Too many cats n foxes about thinning them out.

That is a pretty cool critter. Thanks for showing us. It would be great to see more of the critters from Down Under.
Thanks Darren.
