I'll be following along with this Raymand. I'd like to get a Bradely smoker but I'm also interested in making one myself. The commercial ones are great but they don't come cheap.

Framed up the back walls yesterday. Screwed the four walls together and started to board them up.

This next photo is a back wall.

And an end wall.

I have not framed the front wall for the doors yet. I will do that last. I am going to try and do some more today.

Here are some other photos. I am going to be moving this to a different location in the spring. I have lumber covered and piled up for a 12' by 12' extension on the shed that you see in the background. That was put on hold until spring. I am going to being pouring a cement slab in the springtime to sit this on. And most likely I will make a roof over top of the smoker to keep the weather from falling directly on it. And most likely just wrap a tarp around the vertical framing of the roof addition to keep the snow from piling up around the smoker during the winter.

I decide to get my son and my daughters boyfriend to set the house on top before it got to heavy.
Image

Roof and door opening and doors yet to be finished.
Image

Oh yes and an end wall to be finished. Slow but sure.
Image

Used the Grizzly to tow the furnace where it is for now. Much easier than having two lads tow it there, :) .
Image

Just a slight sloping roof. Salvaged those pieces from an old tent trailer that was given to me. Had planned to make a teardrop trailer sometime, but due to being sick and short on cash that is on hold so the trailer frame has been heavily undercoated by a friend to save the frame.
Image

I will do some more work on this today. Finish the boarding in the wall and roof and think about what to do for the doors.
Image
Now I need to do the doors in this opening.
Image
I think I will make two doors. I had a friend suggest to me to just make one solid door and hold it in place with four wooden buttons. What do you folks think? Should I cap off the smoke pipe opening in the back of the furnace and drill holes in the top of the smoke chamber of the furnace to allow the smoke to fill the house? I am thinking to attach a smoke pipe with a damper in the pipe to the house. I also need to rig a thermometer and chimney stack with a damper in it. I need to install pieces wood on the inside to hold racks and/or rounds poles. Thanks for following along and for any answers and tips that you may be able to help me with. I will appreciate any answers and suggestions.
Thanks,
Raymond

Looking Good Raymond ...I like the two door idea because you can open one at a time and hold heat and smoke in if you need to or open both at one time depending on if your finished smoking your meat.

If you have easy access to it, smoked mackeral is one of my favourites. Willie Krauch doesn't live near close enough to me. It's all sold before it gets here.

Go for it.

Hey Maple, right now it is going to be setup for a hot smoker for now. But I have another attachment to make it into a cold smoker also. I took the inside from a hot water tank and am going to be using that for a cold smoker. I will set that up after I get the hot smoker setup. I live in Southwest Nova Scotia and the ocean is only an arm length from me. I was a commercial fisherman until my body let me down. And smoke mackerel, kippers(Herring) and smoked haddock is very good. I do intend to smoke fish also. I have already tried some farm raised trout and that was delicious. I used apple wood chips. I soaked the chips in pure apple juice and then I used a regular BBQ to smoke them. That made me decide to construct a larger smoker. I am hooked.

I was thinking the same thing as you were thinking about the double door idea. It makes good sense to have two doors. Thanks for your comments.

It may not be real fancy but it will be useful I believe. Thanks for your comments Mike, much appreciated. Your build along got me to thinking since I was building it anyway, why not do a build along. Take care of that thumb, that must be throbbing, hopefully the meds will dull the pain.
Thanks,

Hello Folks,
Here is a few more pics with the roof boarded in and some bracing to keep it from being tip over by the wind. My body and brain(I didn't think I had a brain, :) :) ) was telling me that they needed to slow down today. So it was a real slow day.
