Never underestimate what a poor redneck can do with a few tools and little motivation. 
They look awesome!I've got several fans and such mounted, so any more, about all of the turkeys I get, I keep the legs, beards, and wing bones and give the feathers away to Girl Scout or Boy Scout troops to do crafts with.
The spurs, I cut like you did and string them onto a piece of leather (along with some beads) and have a pretty decent necklace.
