That's not good! Especially if you had some fingers in there somewhere adjusting a string when it turned loose. :(
When mine broke it scared the living you-know-what out of me, I heard pieces of it hit the walls and I thought I'd broke a limb for a minute. Definitely a WTF experience I'd rather not do again.

The Middleton slave string is much like what I made, only mine is longer. I adjusted it so that the bow only flexes just enough to change the string. That's how Danny's works too.
