Re: Shooting Stick
ch312, I'm intrigued by these. I have some old broken arrows around and I'd like to give this a try. How do you attach the two sticks to form the X at the top? Do you put inserts into both ends of the each section? What's the purpose of the bed-liner spray?

Good luck with the project, let us know how it turned out! Pictures are good...trwilson wrote:I decided to retrofit by matrix 405 to allow for the Steedy Eddie to mount just below the quiver. Yes, I hate to drill a hole into a fine piece of equipment.
If I gain improved stability in the field, I will be able to justify my decision as apply downward pressure on my drill.

Re: Shooting Stick
I made these a couple years ago from a pair of hiking poles. They work good but they do take a little time to set up.

Kegbelly, the connection at the top looks good. I outta be able to find hardware like that somewhere. The shock-corded arrow sections should help to speed up setup and take-down. As long as they don't unlock too easily, they should be plenty stable and very light. With inserts at both ends of each section, field tips can be used at the bottom to stick in the ground.

Re: Shooting Stick
I made the brackets from some leftover kydex sheet, I think it's .080 material I molded around each pole then they're just bolted together so it hinges. I like the stoney point ones cuz they're lighter and fold up smaller and set up quicker. They could be about 4" taller though, if you're sitting on a downhill angle they seem just a little bit short. I tried to extend them using some old aluminum arrows but I didnt have quite the right size, and I never got back to it. Its on my to-do list before next seasonSignificent wrote:Kegbelly, the connection at the top looks good. I outta be able to find hardware like that somewhere.
