Those sound like good resources, especially the med lab.
With my work I'm quite often out in the bush. More common to have ticks a couple of times a week than to not have them. Permethrine spray from waist down and wearing high boots and having all clothes tucked in helps a lot. Also hold up arms and look good for ticks in the mirror before taking a shower.
I've had lyme or some type of tick-borne disease twice. No picnic. The last time was worse, maybe as a result of being older. The 30 days of doxycycline was not fun either. The wife of a friend of mine had to do a 6 month course of doxy.
I know several people who have serious permanent or semi-permanent conditions as a result of tick-borne diseases. In many of these cases, it had gone undiagnosed.
The test for lyme is not very conclusive, and it could be a different tick-borne disease like the ones you mentioned.
Both times I had it, I knew that I was developing a serious illness and had been exposed to a lot of ticks so I told the doc to just go ahead and start me on the doxy.
I HATE ticks!!!!!!!!!!!
