Re: Excalibur micro 380
I like 425 to 450 on the Micro platform. I like short arrows, so I cut mine at 15.5". Zombie shafts, 110 inserts and a luminock. This usually lands me within a few grains of 400, and then I can go from there with broadhead weight. Which is typically 125.
Some what recently I made a gametime decision to go from a fixed 125 Tooth of The Arrow to a 100 grn Swat MOAB for a hunt i required an immediate recovery(which after reading that, should be all hunts, but this was terrain specific). I suspect my finish weight was only a few grains over 400. But it worked perfectly. Like your 380, I was shooting a 400TD so I felt I wasn't leaving any thing on the table, by switching to a big mechanical.
I think however you will find that a nice heavy string, and a heavier arrow will make your mag-tipped bow more pleasurable to shoot. Which in turn will keep confidence in your setup higher and your good to go with whatever setup you choose.
If I had to choose a setup to recommend, I would without a doubt recommend a MOAB or the new x-MAG TI. That head was genius.
