Is your left hand your "strong side" and you are using your left to hold the cocking rope handle when you let the string down?

I don't think they made Axiom's in 08 the polymer rails. Cameras can always be out of date unless you put the correct date in every time you put batterys in it.

I was just curious as to which direction the cocking rope was sliding through the groove when he let it down. Looks like the plastic is "smearing" on the right side. Is it that way on the left, too?
Don't use that method of letting the string down myself, but would it be possible to let the rope move fast enough to create excessive heat from friction?

Spect it could if'en you don't stop it. When i pull the trigger i have a solid hold & my doesn't move til i let it down slow as i wish

Another option is to use a discharge arrow and stop using the rope cocker to de-cock.

Designate an arrow with an old or damaged broadhead for this purpose. Doing this will get you through the hunting season without further damage to the stock.

I own the smf axiom. I just bought mine in september.
The lip that holds the rope is somewhat worn. Nothing like you have pictured. Just a little bit of wear on the camo where I can see the white.
I have used the decocker probably about 30 times. I think after seeing that Im gonna start firing mine into the bag after cocking.

i just cocked this bow for the 1st time since my one day of shooting. There is a bunch of downward force on that corner rope guide. and i decocked for my 4th time. right handed, I'm sure there is a air pocket down under that corner from the injection mold process that is weakening it. It happens, and you will never know where.I 'm gonna try and call for a tec person at Excalibur. in AM friday

sounds like a plan. when or if it wears to the side rail, i'll have to watch what that does to the string.
as with the scope, i have a quad 300 scope that i saved when i junked that bow, shot a bunch of deer with it. i'll put that on and send this scope back. now.
My boy won't like that much, he's usen it on a horton huntermax. oh well........
thanks guys for all your help. i know this bow will be okay for me. just got to
work out the speed bumps.....ddmcgee
