Thankfully no! Otherwise they might have found me, beside the buck, dead of cardiac arrest! I phoned the landowner and he was only too happy to come out with his ATV, help me drag the deer 100 yards to the trail, then lift it over the fence and onto the machine. We had barely gone 200 yards from the gut pile when we could hear a bunch of coyotes arrive there for a party!
Nice to have 4 wheeled help. A neighbor owes me a favour but had no quad, I told him he may have to help haul a deer one day  I would be scared if I heard coyotes that close eating my gut pile in dark fog
To be a vegetarian is to listen to the live carrot gradually screaming as it drowns in a pot of boiling water …. Which is more ethical to you ??

Shooting three 9-pointers is a "curse" that anybody would like to have, so I better not complain! I must admit that it was actually kind of fun. In fact, when I found my buck there was a very small part of me that hoped it was another 9, just for giggles!

The other fellow who hunts the property has a trail camera and he sent me this pic taken 10 days before I shot my buck. Same deer?

The last doe I shot, I got down out of the stand and went to pick up the arrow. Just as I grabbed it, a bunch of coyotes started yipping within probably 1/4 mile of me. :x The wind was blowing in their direction and it had been close to 30 minutes since I shot so I didn't know if they were just yipping or if they smelled the deer blood. You don't want to know what I was thinking. Needless to say, I was glad that KY allows you to carry a pistol if you have your concealed carry permit.

Ninepointer, don't you hate it when you get a big deer like that? It's great that you got it, but you know that you're going to have to spend $400 or so for a taxidermy bill. Tough problem to have, huh?

Someday I might spring for a headmount, but for now I'll just keep on tossin' the heads on ant hill where the buzzards can pick 'em clean before I nail 'em with a rusty spike to an old piece of plywood
