The only aim of my initial post is sharing our experience, thoughts in a positive, creative manner helping Excalibur to make even better crossbows.

Sorry to extend this string any longer but I finally went back and read all the posts. WOW!!!! There are some very strong feelings on here along with some very long winded posters. The one thing that I don't like and have very little tolerence for is someone who poo poos something someone else likes just because it is not their thing. I am a gun loving, gun toting, Bible thumping, white male, Vietnam veteran and I understand that puts me and others like me on our so called govenment's terroists list. As a matter of fact the Home Land Security secretary said we were the biggest threats.

I have very little respect for gun haters as I do for most people who hate anything other than evil. The louder they speak their opinion just reaffirms their social mental illness. But they too are the ones we veterans fought for and we defend their right to be stupid.

Ami, you almost turned me against hunting and killing an animal all together. WOW! You speak so loudly sometimes that you lose you credibility. Those who have called you names are no better either. I will not defend them because they are trying to combat a perceived wrong with another wrong and I don't agree with that either. Being 65 doesn't mean I am smarter than those of you who are younger but it does mean I have been around longer and achieved something you have not yet achieved. I hope I have grown in wisdom and tolerance but I fear that I have not. I LOVE guns!!! I think woman is the prettiest thing God created and I think a gun is the prettiest thing man has created. Both are dangerous in the wrong hands. The big difference is that a woman has a mind of her own and a gun does not. Women and their mouths have done harm but no gun, by itself, has ever hurt anyone....... unless it fell off the rack and hit you in the head.

Well said volfan, and my respect to you for being one of those who has served. To say deer_unlimited's thread has been jacked is an understatement. This is my 3rd try at addressing this cause I almost got caught up in it. After 59 years of tramping the woods with longarms, bow, xbow, fishing rod, traps and what have you I pick what experience has shown me to be appropriate. I do not force my preferences on anyone but if you ask I will tell you why it worked for me.

I do find that on the web people will take a position or say things that they would not if it were face to face. They should remember that it is a small world these days and your electronic identity may come back to get you.

I would ask deer_unlimited to start a new thread with his/her original question and we can all see what comes down the wire. I do not yet own a Matrix but very much enjoy reading about the experiences others are having with them. I will, however, confess that I find all that Post Conventional Morality a truckload of horse pucky and irrelevant to this forum.

I'm not a gun "hater" at all, though. Hate is a pretty strong, and irrational feeling. I think guns had important roles (both good and bad) in world history. I just find them to be... impractical, underestimated, and overrated. It's a personal feeling. It shouldn't provoke the name calling and other nonsense I've encountered.

A correct response, for example, could have been: "That's great Ami. I disagree and think they are awesome, though. To each their own."

Unfortunately, some people have such an irrational passion for guns they take any opinion regarding them deeply personal.

The best suggestion is to keep your personal feelings about guns out of this Crossbow Hunting section because they do not belong here. Even better is to keep them to yourself since they are personal in nature. Problem solved.

I believe I've found a more comfortable way to cock Matrix 380 using cocking aid of course. Instead of lifting the string with your hand you lift it using the handle while pushing down the opposite handle. Worked for me. What do you think?
