U.S. Nonresident Licence

Post by Dave Snobelen »

Does anyone know of an inexpensive nonresident State hunting licence that is available over the net. I'm looking for one to use to qualify to take my guns north moose hunting. The ATF rules state I need one :( and I figure someone on this site can steer me in the right direction.
Thanks
Dave :D

US NON RESIDENT LICENSE

Post by BOB VANDRISH »

Dave,Pennsylvania and NY state are both around the $100 US mark, and I know for sure that you can get the PA one by going to their site.by just looking for PA Game Commission.
I haven't hunted NY for a few years, but I think it is basically the same deal.
PA will have it to you in less than a week.

NON RESIDENT LICENSE

Post by BOB VANDRISH »

I would think that he needs a Big Game license,as that it what I need when I apply to hunt in PA.
I also think that it should be from the state he intends to hunt in,if I read the regulations correctly.
The only other exception that will allow Canadian firearms into the US is proof that you are attending a gun meet, either trap or rifle shoot of some type,or have been invited to same.

38. Q. I'm Canadian and am going to be driving through the United States as a short cut to get from one part of Canada to another part of Canada. I'm going to have a rifle with me. What documentation will I need at U.S. Customs?

A. You do not need a Form 6 import permit from ATF because you are not temporarily bringing your gun in for hunting or other lawful sporting purposes. You also do not need a DSP-61 import license from the State Department, because there is an exception to their license requirement that applies in this situation. However, you do need to have a valid hunting license from a State within the United States to make your possession of firearm legal while you are in the United States.

Just as Adrian said, I have read that a North Dakota license is the way to go.
