Looking to buy used canoe.

Post by LoneWolf »

I'm looking to buy a good used 12-14' Sports Pal aluminum canoe with side floats.
Must be in good shape, float and not take in ANY water...
May even consider a fibreglass one, again as long as it's in good shape, float and not take in water.

Thanks in advance.

Take two!

I am still looking to buy a canoe, preferably a 12-footer or even a 10-footer!

If anyone in the Ottawa area has one for sale please let me know.
I will be needing one to float my deer out in this season as the property is flooded all around a little island so to speak. Heck there's enough water in there this year I'd even be able to use it to get right to the island if I cut a couple of dead-falls out of the way... This place always had water but I've never seen it this bad... ... One thing though, them big bucks really like that island, especially once they are pressured!...

Anyways, please let me know if you can help me out...

Thanks for your time

It's an island ( elevated area ) in the middle of our woodlot that never gets flooded.

You're right beagle, now that you mention it I think I'd be happier with a fibreglass canoe.

SCOTT MAKES A NICE CANOE,I HAVE A 17 FOOT KEVLAR THAT IS REAL NICE TO PADDLE AND ONLY55 LBS,GRUMMANS ARE GOOD ALUMINUMS BUT I DONT LIKE THEM FOR MOOSE HUNTING BECAUSE THEY ARE NOISY AND SHINY IN THE WATER,BUT IF YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY HUNTING FROM ONE THAT MIGHT BE GOOD FOR YOU.

I would be using it for moose hunting too, so aluminum is absolutely out of the question.

Sportspals are not really canoes. They are big washtubs.

You cut your hands on the external foam-holding washers, they bend in the middle, slow as molasses to paddle, and by the time the "floating foam" touches the water, you are way over your safe loading limits anyhow. And they ARE alumunum.

Please Lonewolf, don't do it!!

Check the I-Sell magazine and the like for a canoe. Even try a 'canoe wanted 'ad.

I know you're looking for a "used" canoe, however here's a place that you can buy directly from the manufacturer. We bought ours(my dad's) 33 years ago from these folks (a 16 ft campeur...I think) and it's still in great shape. We even have/made a bracket to accept a 4 hp motor for it and used it extensively for fishing.

http://www.fibresrawdon.com/

Prices are shown.

I wouldn't go to a 12 ft though...too darn tippy! A 15 or 16 ft freighter may be a better choice to haul out game...like the campeur model.
