Deer calls

Post by new paradox »

This is my first year out with a crossbow, never had to call in rifle season.I read alot of the bow/crossbow hunters call the deer in close to get the good shots, what do you guys suggest I use for the hunt starting in mid October.I'm not a trofie hunter, buck or doe tastes the same.

Hmm, I might have to PM him... hehe

Right now I'm using a Grunt call by Knight & Hale and I have the Primos Can.

Try www.huntingfootage.com ....there's alot of video footage of hunts and how to stuff on there. You might find the odd grunt in a video ;)

I've had good luck with Rattling,Grunt Tube,The Can,and Fawn Bleat.

The first time I tried Rattling,3 minutes at it turned around had a Buck 5 foot from me,looking for the fight  Well lets just say there was no way to get turned around and even start to get a shot :P

I was just looking at the remington grunt call which makes I believe Bleats, distress, rutting grunts and regular grunts. What I liked about it was that it was flexible and made from smoe sort of rubber so that it does not clank or cling if it hits your xbow or gun. I have found this to be a pain in the ass when in the dead quiet woods. Everything echoes like crazy!!!

I use "The Can" by Primo.

Called in an 8 point last year that was going the complete opposite way until I threw out a bleat from the can.

They are inexpensive and easy to use, just flip it over!
