how to quieten swivel stud/sling swivel
Does anyone have a good method for quitening the sling swivel/stud on their Excalibur xbow? Especially on the stud connected to the stock on the rear of the xbow. I have a lot of play in mine where it connects and with the synthtetic stock it is rather loud. One fix is to remove the sling while on stand but it would be nice to not have to do that.

I had one sling that squeaked on the studs every time I tried it. A drop of lube would cure it far a while, then the squeak returned. I tried a different sling and the problem disapperaed.
I guess manufacturers have a wide range of tolerances for QD swivels/studs? You might try a different brand if you have a set available. If not the tape would probably work.

I replaced my swivels with a piece of nylon rope. Put small rope through the hole, then through the loop in the sling, and back through the hole in the opposite direction, and burnt the ends to form a ball to keep from pulling through. the sling does not come off, but it is very quiet. I used the nylon rope they use for a release loop on hand bows. My sling is very quiet. If you plan on taking the sling off, another method may be better. Butcher

Another sling question...if I may...
Speaking of slings...how do you carry it with the quiver mounted to the stock as well? I found that I had my arm riding on the bolt - actually pushed it out of the quiver head...is there a better way to sling the crossbow?

You can order a top mount bracket that goes across the limbs for about $8.00 but I don't recall who sells them. Can somebody post the name?mfh wrote:Speaking of slings...how do you carry it with the quiver mounted to the stock as well?
