My first buck with a x-bow

Post by new paradox »

Today was our opening day.I got out to earlly and ended up falling asleep till 7:30.Hit the bush looking for a friends tree stand he uses for rifle season, couldn't find it,but by 8:30 I did find another friends.I pased off the area to mark 30 yards, got in the stand and used my grunt call a little.I tried the doe can you flip over a coule times also.Around 9:30 I can just make out a deer about 250 yards away,I gave a doe grunt,he stopped, looked around, started walking again, another grunt, then he crossed the opening and was gone.I thougth try the can again,I didn't know if it was a buck yet,so tipped the can, waited, then gave a fawn bleat call, friends said buck or doe may come to help the fawn.It took a couple minutes for him to get into site again, but he was coming my way.He stopped and looked right at me from about 35 yards of,then took two more steps and looked again.I couldn't get a shot off thou, all I could see was his head.Turns out this trail he was on,was the only area I didn't pase off,so I wasn't sure how far he was.He took another step into open area and I pulled the trigger. All I herd was the sound of a hammer hitting wood,I didn't hear my x-bow at all and neither did he.The arrow hit on the neck, went under the shoulder blade and into the spine. He dropped like a rock. After I got over to him I could see the angle he was at to me,any higher or further back and he would have been one sore walking buck that I probly would have lost.I was shooting my Parodox with a Beamens Thonder Bolt and a Grim Reaper mechanical broadhead. The bolt broke off when he fell, but the broad head is undamaged.Love my Paradox this was my first time out with any bow,it was great.Hope you guys all have some good hunting to,just not where I go,ha,ha.

P.S He was a stiked buck,about 7 inches long.Like I said before"I shoot anything that moves,antlers make poor soup."
