Need help with Excalibur

Post by Wes E. »

Hello guys. I am wanting to purchase my first Excalibur crossbow. I have hunted with crossbows for many years now so I am not new to the sport.

I have a chance to pick up an Examag 200 pound bow. Can you tell me if there is any difference between the Exomag and the current Exocet model? Also, is it necessary to use a cocking aid? I can cock the 200 pound bow by hand but was wondering if a cocking aid helps center the string better. Thanks

The Exocet 200 and the Exomag will perform the same. The Exocet 200 has a shorter rail but has a new riser that makes up for the shorter rail. If you put the new riser on the Exomag you get the Exomax. The new riser pushes the limbs forward slightly giving you more speed.
I would go with the cocking aid because it is far easier to cock and the aid will ensure that every cock is centred perfectly.

So is the Exomax an overall shorter bow than the Exomag?

The Exomag and the Exomax rails are the same length the riser has different limb angles that changes the poundage. By putting the angled riser on the Exomag you have basically created an Exomax.

So I guess my real question is...Is there any advantages/disadvantages between the Exomag (200 pound) and the Exocet (200 pound) bows?

Only that the Exocet will give you less draw length to cock.... :D

You will get the same profromance between the two bows. The difference is that the Exocet has a slightly shorter rail which will make your cocking the bow slightly easier.

Hope this helps.
