filled my muzzleloader buck tag

Post by GonHuntin »

Shot this one last week during Oklahoma's muzzleloader season.......shot was 140-150 yards.....9 points, 23" outside, 21" inside and weighed right at 170 dressed.

Used my 50 cal. Remington 700 ML, 100 grains 777, Hornady high pressure sabot, 250 grain "surplus" poly tipped bullets from LS&B (same as TC mag tip express)......

He was chasing a doe and headed straight away.....thought I might have to do a Texas heart shot, but the doe stopped, then he stopped and turned his head to look back at the does that were following......I managed to slip a bullet in just behind the shoulder and it was recovered in the neck on the opposite side.....

Hunted with the Excalibur the rest of the week, had lots of opportunities at small bucks and does, but nothing I wanted to shoot......

Thats a fine Oklahoma buck! Things around my part of the state have been so,so this season so far. Lots of acorns everywhere making a food plot or feeder a waste of time to hunt. I am hunting scrapes and around bedding areas right now. I saw three small bucks this morning all within shooting range chaseing doe's on a scrape line. Good job on your buck, I hope one as nice comes by my stand soon!
