XP has a program call "System Restore" whereby you can reset your computer to a date before the problem started.

If you go onto your "XP tutorial" you should be able to find it. It's easy to do. I'm NOT a computer whizz but managed to use it a couple of times with no problems.

I don't know if that's your problem but it may just solve it.

The right people talking here (computer technician :D (beyond excalibur shooter, of course)).

try a software named: ad-aware , made by lavasoft company (http://www.lavasoft.com/) click on the left panel on "Ad-aware personal".

Download it and run. Probably your computer are infected with softwares of a category called "spyware". Its risk use your computer for internet banking before run a software that will cleanup your computer.

I hope this helps.

Ad-aware is a good freebee. You might also consider a FIREWALL. I've been using "ZoneAlarm" for several years and again it's a freebee.

Some times you have to go into safe mode for some of these repair tools to work(if it finds a bug/virus/whatever and cannot remove it)If all else fails, try system restore. your going to loose information added between now and the point of restore so you may want to back up any information that you think you can't do without onto a cd.
Heres the path. Click the start at the bottom left, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore...read and follow instructions.
Good luck

On xp your d should be your cd drive. Is there a disc in it? Hit control alt and delete all at once and click the application tab, what do you see? Did any of your scans with any programs say that you have a virus?

You should not lose them, however I do not understand why he (Adam) had to do it that way :? Once a virus is embedded, generally one must use a program such as Norton to remove it. If a restore will take it out I see no reason why one could not just choose his new restore point before the virus was picked up.

Adam get a good VIRUS program installed, some good free ones at msn update area. :D

hatchet jack I do not think restore will go back 4 or 5 months :!:
