IS IT POSSIBLE

Post by BOB7255KHZ »

Is it possible to hit " DEAD CENTER" everytime on a 3 inch target at 20 , 30 , 40 and 50 yards, or am I trying the impossible here? I'm using a Exocet 200 and Variscope, bench rested on sandbag rest. Shooting Laser 2 with 4 inch vanes with brass inserts. Also with this setup , what do you think I'm shooting at fps. Wearing myself out trying to do this....or is this out of reach for a xbow....I know it's not a rifle.

Under perfect conditions, it would be possible. At 15 yards, I managed to put 3 bolts into the same hole. However in the real world, with all the different variables and conditions it's highly unlikely that one would be able to make "robin-hood" after "robin-hood". Even so, I don't shoot more than one arrow/bolt into the same bulleye, without pulling the previous one out first.

OH yes, I"m using the same arrow , then shooting it again.

I'm dead center at 20 and 30 time after time, same hole.....40 yards pretty good also....but at 50 yards I'm low about 3 inches and to the right by 4 inches. So if I adjust the scope windages for 50 I cam be right on at 50 yards......but now when I come back to 20 and 30 yards , I'm shooting high and to the left by a couple inches. Guess this is all arrow flight that cannot be corrected ?

I usually find that even though I can't put every single bolt through the same hole, that once sighted in, my crossbow is on from 10 through 50 yards.

If you're shooting low at 50, perhaps you might have too much FOC, which will cause your bolt to drop more than normal at longer ranges.

hmm

Cause the brass inserts come in varied weights.

Do you have an FOC gauge?

Comfy does have a point here.

20% is pretty high FOC. Maybe you could try with 85 grain field points.

Also it sounds like your windage needs to go to the right a couple of inches... If you are shooting high at 40 and 50 yards turn your speed dial up and try that.

I lowered my FOC to 15% by putting screws in nock and couldn't see much difference. Mine weigh 431 gr. w/ 100 gr points and balance at 14" if you want to check the math, not one of my better subjects in school. By 15% I mean they then balanced at 13"

awshucks,

I hear ya, math wasn't one of my better subjects either, that's why I went out and bought myself an FOC gauge... *L*

What does FOC mean guys?
Front of Center. i.e. the balance point is a certain percentage in front of the center of the arrow/bolt.

If your bolt is 20" long and it balances at 14" from the back (4" front of center) the FOC is 20%, at 13" it would be 15%.[/quote]
