Went out to the property today to post new Tresspass signs, and mark yardage trees in shooting lanes.
On the way in scared up at least 15 to 20 Wild Turkey. Then on the back of the property posting more signs, scared up another group of 10 to 15 Turkeys. On the property over on left was another group of 10 to 15 more! Holy doodle man! 8)
The only problem with all the excitement is I don't Hunt turkey. :(
Never thought it would be worth it before, but now they are multiplying big time out here. Me thinks I may have to look into the course and license and start. :wink:

Might as well get it John. It cost me $14 for the course, and the test at the end is so simple, all common sense.

Tye: The coarse is now $35.oo according to the OFAH web site.

pphoenix: So ...... starting a rumour that I have a Turkey problem eh?

That's okay guys, I don't mind. There are lots of turkey there. Even while in the stands Deer hunting they come by in groups. I know of no-one around there that hunts them.
The only reason I dont hunt them is, I couldn't justify the price of course and Tag for one bird, and not get one. Before anyway. Now there are so many that I may just go for it.

Now, for rumors....John don't complain. This one aint as bad as my girlfriend one. :lol:

could not justify the cost ???? have you sat down with the wife and anilized the cost of deer hunting ?? dont you will be shocked ... turkey hunting is by far the most exiting time you can spend in the woods especially if you have a partner that hunts them as well ... go get your turkey lic and then tell me what you think of it ... garenteed you will have a speical turkey gun and all the clothes buy next spring ....

As much as I hate to say it, Turkey hunting is almost as exciting as deer hunting. The course fees will be long forgotten after you spend $$$$$ on dozens of calls, a vest, decoys, turkey gun or new choke, head to toe camo, and blind :lol: :lol: :lol: .

I have only hunted them one season, but I guarantee you they are addictive. When you hear that old gobbler a hundred yards off and he keeps coming to your call thundering all the way only to see him in full strut at 70 yards and no closer. That's what makes it frustrating and fun!

I hope to finish the story this year and pull the trigger on a long beard. That will be sweet 8) .
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

I think the last turkey course for southwestern Ont. is in London on the 23rd better get in there :D

Buy justifying the cost I mean, $35.00 Tag for Deer 100's lbs. meat.
$35.00 Bear tag 100's lbs. meat.
Small game license, unlimited meat basically. Very cheap!
$35.00 turkey course. $25.oo tag or close, "Few" lbs. meat.
As well, allready the amount I spend: on gear and Ammo, and stands and property and gas, cottage and maintenance , maintaining property here, the wife would just love for me to start another cost absorbing venture!... NOT!!!
However if I could sneak all this by her without her knowing until it's done,...well that's a different story. :wink:

John, you're right don't invest anymore, there's plenty of other hunters that could help you out. :lol:

Just send me a PM on where you have this problem with your full coordinates. I'll bring two friends with me if that's OK with you :D :wink:

I'm in to moose, bear and deer, but will be at my first turkey hunt this year, maybe I'll be one of the skilled ones and bag two during the season (with your help 8) ).
Old Indian saying, if a leaf falls from a tree in the woods the turkey will see it, the deer will hear it, the bear will smell it, the moose will not eat it, but be on the look-out for LeGrand.

OH MAN! :shock:

Spring turkey and bear hunting helps me shake the hunter / winter blues!

And it's a whole lot cheaper than visits to the shrink and a prescription for antidepressants! :lol: :lol: :lol:

8) In all seriousness though, I love turkey hunting and their numbers are growing out here as well... took it off limited entry and now it's open season!
