Chronographed My Phoenix again

Post by TYE »

Well, we fixed the chronograph at the shop and it's right on the money now.

I shot my Phoenix, with Beman Thunderbolts and 100gr fieldtips through the chronograph, 3 shots, all 300fps. Then I picked up some Gold Tip Laser II's and they shot 310fps.

I don't know, Tim just told me it was fixed now. He had to get it working properly because he's gotta shoot a tournament with a limit of 280fps with his Mathews, so he was trying different things with his bow to drop from 320 to 280 fps.

I think it may be off about 5 fps because the GoldTips are only supposed to be 305 from a Phoenix like it says on the website.

TYE,
I dont have access to a Chronagraph. What do you think the Phoenix launches the Excal Bolts with the 100 grain tips at? Just a curious...
Whatever it is-seems fast to me!

If you mean the Carbon bolts in the Excalibur packs, those are the Gold Tip Laser II bolts I was shooting at 310fps.

Hehe I've only used it twice.

Yeah I do work. Yesterday I built the targets for the field archery course at Peterborough Fish and Game Club.

What kind of string were you using when the phoenix clocked in at
310 ft. per second? According to the excalibur catalogue the 305
advertized figure is attainable with a fast flight string. Also how much
would the speed decrease if your broadhead was 125 grains?
I'm interested because I use a phoenix with an excellerant string and
have wondered if my dial in vari-zone scope setting is correct for what I shoot:
20" lazer II bolts with a 125 grain broadhead. Any help you can give
me would be much appreciated and probably help answer questions
for others as well.
