We could see that the guy had a full load of cedar branches and other yard waste. He proceeded to start dumping the stuff right on the lawn of the parking lot. He couldn't even bother to drag it off into the woods.
I went over and talked to him, telling him that this was the last remaining parking lot for this parcel of land and that the others had been closed because of garbage dumping. He played the "I thought branches would be okay, card". I told him that the Conservation Officers had told us that they didn't care what was dumped. If it continued, they would close down the last remaining parking lot, ultimately screwing everyone who uses the land.
He told me he was sorry and wouldn't dump the stuff. I even told him how much the landfill would charge him for the load. FIVE BUCKS! Chris drove by later that day and saw that he had dumped the remaineder of his load.
I just got off the phone with the Conservation Officer for the area and he is phoning in the guys plate to the cops! He can't plead ignorance with two eye witnesses that warned him. They may just get him to clean it up or they may charge him.
The whole kicker was that some mushroom pickers showed up as he was doiing this and he got nervous with all the eyes around, so he pulls out a shotgun and shells and says he's heading in to do some grouse hunting. It was such a crock of $%!T. Just a cover for his garbage mission. So, basically these other folks looked upon the hunter before them as a litter bug. I'm sure that's good for our image.
What an idot!
