Believe it or not Tar Heel I just got it and put the receiver together. Have done a test by putting the transmitter about 50 yards out in the back of the house and geeee's man seems to be A-OK, hope to try it out with the real thing soon. Picture to follow. The signal meter is kinda, well sorta neat ....

Well, that is just cool.

Pricey, too.

Don't think I'll be ordering one, but I am interested in field reports! I guess if you use them and have a good blood trail, you just shouldn't look at the blood ... it'd ruin the fun!

Grizzly Adam they are for the unfortunate times you loose the blood trail or it gets dark on you and hard as heck seeing the blood trail if it's spotty on fall leaves, as snow is a little better  also will be handy if'n ya be tracking in or after a rain. Just figured I have a hard time with my breathing and any thing that would cut the tracking time down might be worth the investment .... :D

Sounds like the bowbug is just the ticket, if it works as advertised.

I think it definitely would come in handy when archery hunting bear, like the one I've been watching in the corner of my field for the past half hour. As thick as the brush is around here, as little as they bleed, and as ornery as a wounded one can be, that device probably would be worth the money.

Sure hope it does what you want it to.

Here is the unit ready to go. Receiver would of course be turned off and left at the truck/car/ATV in till needed.

bow bug

Bow bug ;well a buddy bought one. He used it a couple of times, rite now he's batting 50%finding wounded game. Had to call my dog and I for help. Found that deer about a quarter of a mile from where it was shot. lLost his transmitter in the brush. High tech is great but a good dog is hard to beat.

Reads like he not be taking his time hawg hunter and depending on the tracker. One still has to make a ethical shot, if done so should not need the tracker except for rare occasions.

Should not have lost the transmitter as he should have been able to find it with the receiver even if it dropped off :? sorta lost on that one.

In any case not picking on your buddy but I feel if used right they should be a good investment for most but with all things some will love it and some would say it stinks. Time will tell with me as I have not used it as yet.... :D and Yep your right can't beat a good dog :!:

Good question navaman, however it's only 9Volt. In the rain I would cover the receiver with a clear plastic cover/bag.

Gary, this looks like something many of us could benefit from. Could you keep us informed on how it works for you. How do the bolts fly with the transmitter on them? are they as accurate?. Can you hurry and shoot a deer with one to try it out. I really want to know. It would be a good investment for a group of bowhunters and just buy xtra transmitters.
Keep us informed please.
Thanks for the introduction to this product

Hey Gary.

Yeah!... Get out there and shoot a deer with that thing and let us know how she works!... :D

Make sure to shoot so that the deer don't drop on the spot though!...

rutman, Tar Heel gave me the link to the system. I have two arrows set up to try and one practice arrow. The transmitter weighs close to 25gr as of my test shot at 20 yards this morning it did not change point of impact and the transmitter did as it was supposed to and the arrow went in target up to the fletching and the BOWBUG stuck in perfect.

When the right time comes will be trying it. Bad thing I have noticed so far is the small magnet to turn off the transmitter would be very easy to lose. Easy fix as the small battery is good for 5 days of constant on, so figure I will just put the battery in on the day of use. (very small hearing aid battery) and remove when done hunting.

System sure would be a big help IF it works as stated on rainy days where the blood trail would be washed away. Another bad deal is this would sure make things easier for (a nasty word coming up a POCHER) tracking at night. Do not like that word but as we all know they all probably have one any-hows  Ethics comes in to play here with this device and many others such as Night Scopes .... :D
