I am thinking of making dacron b-50 flemish twist strings for my Vixen. Assuming a 7 1/2 inch foldback on each end to form the loops and twist them in, would I want a bundle length of 50 inches to give a string length of 35 inches before break in? 7 1/2 inch inch is what I use for recurve strings. Does it need to be more for the Vixen string?
I use more for crossbow strings, but I can't tell you how much as I don't have my string jig at home with me.
I'd say probably 10" would be about right. I use 30 strands of B-50. I usually make them about 35.5 inches.
The flemish twist dacron is the easiest on the limbs IMO. I made one this winter and the bow is a little smoother & quieter than with a dacron endless loop.
