O/T ---> Ticket

Post by Bow Life »

Okay so i did a pretty stupid move on the past weekend.
There was a thing in my town called heritage day and everyone loves to party. I am 18 and as you all know that is one year shy of 19, the legal drinking age.
Well i was talking to a police officer as he was looking for a young man who had just vandilized some property and he told me that they were not giving out tickets for those possesing alcohol under age unless someone "talked" themself into a ticket.
He also said aslong as the person was compliant they were just making them pour out the alcohol.
Later that day i was in a field with some friends and i had a beer in my pocket. A police officer pulled up and asked if i had any alcohol i said yes and pulled out the one beer. He then took it along with my ID and gave me a 130$ fine. I was slightly ticked off considering what i was previously told and considering how honest i was with him. I understand i was in the wrong.
The thing that really pissed me off was the fact that i later found out multiple other people with much more alcohol and much youinger then me got off with a warning and just the loss of their alcohol. I was just upset with the double standard.

Question is: what should i do? should i just pay the ticket and accept the fact that i was wrong? or should i fight it?

Fight it on what basis? You're under age, you had alcohol and you got fined. It sucks. I was 18 once too and I feel for ya but the law is the law and there's not much you can do to fight it. :(

There's a fight you're not gonna win! Pay your fine and move on.
