New Boots

Post by raydaughety »

I'm in the market for a new pair of boots and thought that I could get some great insight from you guys. I'm willing to pay around $200.00 for a good pair of boots. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Please remember that I'm disabled and am looking for an extremely comfortable, waterproof boot. This boot has gotten my attention: http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0041702812624a.shtml

Thanks again for help,
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Thats a hell of a deal. Irish setter is a great boot. You might want to check out this boot. I have these exact ones and i find them great for all types of hunting.

Also i hunt in Canada so i need a boot that keeps me warm. If you hunt in a cold climate, 600 gram insulation might not be warm enough. Always match the climate with the boot.

I just bought several pairs of military combat boots from a government asset disposal site[BC government auctions]for $10 a pair-some brand new-some barely broken in[others were badly worn].These are the highest quality leather boots-some were Gortex.I think I will put corks in one pair-if I can find where to buy them

Bob, I have a pair of alpha burlys and love them as well but I can't walk far in them. I'm looking for a boot that has 400-600 grams of thinsulate in them. I've seen some that are built on an athletic shoe platform but don't know of anyone that has tried them.

I just had this one delivered to the house on Friday. I've gotten prone to wearing snake boots during warmer weather and have gotten use to the knee high boot. Planning a trip elk hunting in Colorado for mid October and thought this one would work good in the snow. Haven't worn them out and about yet but it looks like a good warm boot.

Those new scent blocker boots look pretty nice. I like that they have the brush guard on the shank of the boot. They have the gel inserts in the sole too. The inserts make it more comfortable over a length of time. I had some duty boots with that feature and an air cushion. It made Mardi Gras more bearable. My Hodgmans are still in too good a shape to get rid of just yet, so I'll have to wait.

Danner Pronghorns or LaCrosse Alpha Burly Sport - can't go wrong with either ones - get both!

I have a pair of Rocky boots that are knee high rubber and insulated with a zipper on the side. They are warm, dry and do not leak; very easy to pull on and OFF! I also own LaCrosse boots but they are harder to pull on and take off due to the ankle tight fit. I believe the Irish Setters are made by Redwing Shoes, they are an excellent company that has superb customer service. Look them up in your phone book and call the local Redwing dealer to see if he carries the boots you want. They have a special sizing machine to measure your foot and you can try the pair you are interisted in on. You can do an internet search on Redwing shoes and look at the different styles of hunting and work boots. As a wildland firefighter, I have been wearing Redwing boots for over 25 years. :P
