Got my stand up (pic)

Post by KYXbow »

My brother and I put up a double man stand in nice little funnel. We wrapped some camo material around it and cable tied some branches to break up the square outline some. A thick drain is behind it with alot of red oaks, in front is a small clearing. We killed an 8 point and a 9 point in two years from this general area. The deer really use this funnel, so we are going to try to get a few early bow kills with this spot on film.

Great camo. Just curious, how do you think it will look in November once the leaves are down?

Already thought about that. The camo material is Hunters Specialties Camo Leaf Blind Material. It is in Realtree Hardwoods HD. The pattern is more for deep woods in the fall since it doesnt have any green in it. So, I think it would actually look better come November. If I had gotten the Realtree Hardwoods Green or the Realtree All Purpose Green, then I think it would be too much green in the fall. I still zip-tied some tree branches on the sides of it to break it up even more. I've used this material before in the past and had no problems with deer and turkey being wary of it.

stand

Post by Big John »

Well I'm liking the location and camoflage area. 8) How high up is that stand?
Doesn't look very high, but could be decieving. I guess if your covered enough and down wind it really doesn't matter anyway , but curious none the less.

The stand is 15 feet high (three 5 foot extensions). We only used two of the extensions since the tree is on a hillside. And, you can tell from the picture if we had gone higher, we would've had to saw limbs off from the tree to get another 5 foot extension on. I hardly ever use a stand this low, but, for this area, we are well covered at this hight. We also thought if it was up higher then it would stick out too much. Later in the fall, we most likely will put the other 5 feet extension on it or maybe two more extensions.

Sounds like you thought it out well. Now you're going to have to take another picture at the beginning of November from the same spot and add it to this thread so we can see it.

Good Luck this fall.
