I have wanted to purchase a higher speed crossbow for some time now but have found the ExoMax to be just too long and bulky for my liking. I see now that they have introduced the Equinox which appears much shorter and lighter (key issues with me). Any comments from new owners?
Also, in the description, it states that the 350 fps is achieved using an optional, “Flemish Dyna- Flight” string versus the standard “Excel” string. What is the difference between the two? How much speed do you lose using the excel string. Can you use the faster string for general use/hunting?
Thanks
Equinox Questions
The Equinox is not "much shorter and lighter". It's overall only about 1" shorter, and the trigger-to-butt distance is less than 1" shorter. The bow feels shorter, though, because your wrist position is lower. The weight is about the same.
The Flemish string is make of a lighter material than the Dacron, and it has almost no stretch, so it accelerates faster than the Dacron. The Flemish FF string will add about 10 fps, and you can pick up a couple more fps with a lighter point on your arrow - the 350 fps rating is with a 350 grain arrow and the fast string. With the stock Dacron string and the stock Gold Tip arrow with the 100 grain point you will get in the area of 335 fps with either the Exomax or the Equinox.

Thanks for the info.
Can/should you use the faster string for hunting?
Will the "cockerdoo" (sp?) cocking aid work on this model?
