10 pt Buck Cosmetic Surgery

Post by TNXBow »

Urban deer hunting at it’s best. As a converted rifle hunter, I now have the chance to hunt in city limits of Nashville in the backyard of a longtime friend only 15 minutes from my home. Only archery hunting is allow and there is little hunting pressure. For 25 years I rifle hunted on a lease on a 1000 acre tract of a Timber Company land with only 10 other hunters, 70 miles outside Nashville. Only two 10 pt bucks were ever harvested over that time frame. The best I could do was an 8pt with a 125 score and that was the largest buck I had ever seen.

Last fall was my first hunting season using a crossbow and I harvested a 10 PT with a 150 score at my friend’s home. Needless to say, I had the most highly recommended taxidermist mount my deer. This afternoon he called me and told me as he prepared the hide, the buck had the most scars and scabs and holes of any buck he has ever mounted . He said there was a large hole in the hide in the back of it’s head and two and three inch scars in several areas. It was obvious to him that another bigger deer was kicking his butt.

I am sold on hunting Urban Deer and my Exomax has been the best hunting experience I have had. Below is the picture my taxidermist e-mailed me this afternoon after he called me of the Cosmetic Surgery he is doing covering some to battle scars. Can’t wait until opening day!

Nice buck TNXbow. If you don't mind my asking, is that a Davidson County buck? Did you get it in the Northwest part of the county? I lived ten years in Nashville(long time ago) and I always thought that would be a good place to hunt, but I could never get permission. Anyways, congratulations, I was just curious.

Pokynojoe, this is a Davidson County buck. Where I hunt is a small backyard, so I am not going to get to specific. Loose lips sink ships. Hope you understand. Thanks.

the taxi has sown up scars or places the hair was loss,,the tape will hold the hair pattern in line till the mount dries,,avoiding getting a cow lick
actually its probabley not tape but plastic mesh screen pinned down
